Untitled #2 / oil on linen panel / 18x24 |
And a photo of me with both recent equine paintings wearing my brand new prescription Jimmy Choo sunglasses!
The small easel just to my left is a Mabef folding easel that I bought to take to my Wednesday life drawing classes. It folds up very compactly and weighs only 3 pounds. It is made in Italy of elm and is a work of art in itself with gorgeous brass hardware. Its nice and sturdy and I may have started a trend in the drawing sessions as another artist already purchased one! It is lovely and has additional front supports to hold a palette if you want to use it for field sketching. I also use it in my studio for paintings that are drying. A multipurpose purchase that I am happy with!
Exciting painting and those glasses are way cool. Thanks for the folding easel review. Can't have enough easels.
ReplyDeleteI quite agree - there is no such thing as too many easels! Thanks for stopping by, Susan.
DeleteI love that painting on the easel! It's nice to see them to appreciate the size of the painting.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Hilda - I sometimes long to get a feeling for the size of a piece when looking at others blogs. I will try to remember to get a shot like t his for perspective now and then.
DeleteSusan, die ezel is een handig instrument...mooie schilderij.
ReplyDeleteDe zonnebril staat je heel goed hoor.
groetjes,
Simonne
Thank you, Simmone - it was really fun to paint!
DeleteAnother brilliant hunt painting!!! And the photo of you, in your new shades, surrounded by your work is wonderful! Love it!
ReplyDeleteThank so you much, Kathryn. I like the connection that exists between the horse and rider at this exact moment in time as the horses hooves first touch the ground. I think this is the moment they both knew it was a successful jump - although it looks darn near impossible to me!
DeleteI really love the painting, but am rather jealous of the glasses. You look so cool in them. Jimmy sure has an eye for design.
ReplyDeleteThe easel is intriguing. I went and looked it up and wonder which version you got. It is a good manufacturer and makes quite a few models. One has the palette arms inside the rear leg from the look of it and another couple have them on the outside. I gather you can open the legs wide for more stability if needed? Anyway I am glad you passed on the info. Thanks.
LOL - thanks, Julie. Truthfully, I bought the Jimmy Choo's because the frames were the lightest I could find. I wanted a large lens area but not the weight. I wear glasses from dawn dusk so lightweight frames are extremely important to me. The Mabef easel I chose was the M27 with the pallete holder (MABEF M27 Field Easel with Palette Holder). I am really enjoying it!
DeleteVery nice work I see on your blog, Susan. Hey, thanks for following mine!

ReplyDeleteHanging my head here - sorry. When I commented I didn't tell you how much I like the painting. You always blow me away with how much movement you manage to capture in your paintings. Another wonderful painting.
You are so sweet, Julie! I can't believe you actually came back to my blog to tell me this - you are the best! And I greatly appreciate that you follow my blog and give me such encouragement! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! :)
DeleteLove both paintings! And I love the bright red jacket - Always such lively scenes on your easel :0)
ReplyDeleteIt seems I am drawn to painting people and animals in a state of motion! Thanks for your support, Sandra!
DeleteHi Susan.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful painting as usual Susan. That does sound like a great easel. If only we in England can purchase one here. No such luck though. It cost`s just as much for shipping, then a bit more when it arrives. All the best Susan.
Vic.
Hi, Vic. I purchased the easel directly from Mabef - but I do believe they have an outlet here in the US - and the shipping was free! Can't get a better deal than that!
