Tuesday Life Drawing

Gary / graphite on newsprint

Gary / Graphite on newsprint
Today was the last life drawing session for a while - I will miss it but am overjoyed that I had this opportunity to draw from live models. Our model today was Gary, an airline pilo,t and it was his first time modeling. He did perfectly. And am I crazy, or does he look like Bobby Kennedy? Last week I seemed to draw a Toulouse Lautrec dance-hall girl and this week I draw a Bobby Kennedy look a like? LOL - oh, well - I do try to draw what I see!

  1. Is this Gary also a painter I wonder, There is a pilot who is also a super artist called Gary. I agree this one looks so much like Bobby Kennedy. You have done a marvelous job. You really make my art-heart race!

    1. Hi, Julie - this Gary is not a painter and was a novice model - I think he is a different pilot Gary! Too bad! Wow - I make your art heart race - I love that!

    1. Thanks, Kathryn - I am sad that life drawing is over for now. I find it so exhilarating! I am torn between attending the life portrait sessions or the life figure sessions next time.

    1. Thanks, Maike. I have been using newsprint but wonder if I should try a little better paper next time.

    1. Thanks so much, Sandra. I just love doing them. There is something kind of magical about capturing a likeness, an expression, a look in the eyes. It makes me happy!

  5. Diversity is the spice of life. And yes, I think he does look like RK. I so admire your get up and go to life drawing sessions. I've yet to move myself to the open studio offered on Saturday mornings. I,too, love your style. It's recognizably yours.

    1. Thanks, LW - I seem to have a more and more personal style the more I draw - I guess that is how it happens! Can't wait for the next session - wild horses could not hold me away!

    1. No power! Oh, Michael - I am sorry to hear that and hope it is back on by now. That much snow all at once is hard to handle. Stay safe and warm, please.
