US Forestry Service I

I thought I would post US Forestry Service I - the companion piece to my first post. I was inspired to paint this one and the second picture after seeing two winter paintings by N.C. Wyeth - "The Vedette" and "And Lawless, keeping half a step in front of his companion...". I saw something in both of these that is best described by N.C. in his own words - a "strange love for things remote, things delicately perfumed with that sadness that is so exquisitely beautiful". What an inspiration his work is to me.

  2. Susan both of these paintings are wonderful pieces of work. I'm reminded of a movie with Sam Elliot where he works for the Forest Service. My uncle also worked for the USFS up in Oregon. What a job! Super work.
