A Dog and her Man

A Dog and Her Man - oil on linen / 16 x 20

Still trying to find my way. A while ago I had started a series about people with their dogs and this one fits into that genre.

Two paintings done a short time ago from this same series:

12 x 12 / Oil on linen

14 x 18/ oil on linen

  1. Hi Susan!... Theses "double portraits" are nothing short of remarkable. They evoke tenderness, understanding and unfailing loyalty between man and his dog. You capture all that is special between people who love and respect their canines!

Your unusual ability to say so much from your heart... and yet maintain a (misleading) simplicity of palette and painterly brushwork to make each painting a master work!

Bravo! I look for others to follow!!!

Cheers... rich blessings and good painting!

    1. Thank you very, very much for your kind comment, Bruce. It means so much coming from you. I have always had an interest and curiosity about the relationships humans are able to form with other animals. My steeplechase series was my first exploration of this and I guess this new series is in the same vein. The newest of these three was a struggle - as I am still fighting to over come some of my hesitations and doubts without the greatest of success. Your words help me along the way and I thank you.

    1. I adore animals and have a burning curiosity as to how humans and other species are able to connect and form such meaningful relationships. It thrills me that you like these three and I am sure I will do more in this series. Many, many thanks for your generous comment!

  3. I love all three of these paintings, Susan. The first one is outstanding...I almost hear him talking to his furry friend. Once again, you created beautiful pieces.
