Eyes Wide Closed!
Male portrait with eyes closed / oil on linen / 14x11
Winter is finally on the run with several days of rain that washed away most of the snow - and my Christmas Roses look like they survived beautifully. And they are still blooming. What a wonder!
Dag Susan, heel mooi geschilderd, en ja, die huidtinten zijn perfect ! Goed hoor dat je helleboris de sneeuw getrotseerd heeft, was voorspeld.... Groetjes van Simonne
Beautiful flesh tones and brushwork. I failed the IQ test on this one, Susan. I thought when i first saw it (small) you meant you painted it with YOUR eyes closed. LOL.
You made me laugh, Julie! I do believe painting with MY eyes closed is more than I would attempt! I have had several models fall asleep during a portrait session so this one is not the first with closed eyes!
Thank you, Martine - I find it fascinating how 2 dimensional paint nand canvas can depict a three dimensional person while maintaining his individuality - man or woman, young or old - its all such a huge challenge when trying to do a portrait.
WOW!!!! Excellent portrait of this man. I LOVE the skin tones!!! Beautiful light...
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love your enthusiasm! You make me feel great and I thank you! :)

Hi, Simonne - his skin was bathed in so much light. It was a challenge to try and catch the light while not losing the nuance of values in the skin.
DeleteThanks so much - he was fun to paint - especially with eyes closed!
ReplyDeleteYour portraits are so good!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Judy. I wish I could be more consistent with them but each one seems to bring a new and difficult challenge.
DeleteBeautiful skin tones and sparkling light , great portrait !
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jane - the light was so much fun to paint!

DeleteBonjour ma chère Susan,
ReplyDeleteUn très joli travail de couleurs... Des nuances merveilleuses qui jouent avec la lumière.
Pas facile de peindre un homme !
