Beautiful, Susan! Reminds me of beach colours. Our former queen used to go horse riding on the beach in the early hours when the beach was still empty.
Fabulous and realistic painting. The long legs of the lean and strong horse with its mane and tail flying appears to be squeezing out every ounce of its energy to keep galloping at a tremendous speed and the rider trying his utmost to maintain the momentum to cross the winning line in great style. I can see a perfect co ordination between them
Many thanks for your kind comment and for taking the time to share your thoughts about this painting with me, Joseph. I greatly appreciate your visit to my blog.

I can't believe I missed this post! I'm so glad I saw your comment at Michael Perchard's. Not only is the motion spectacular, but I like the lighting. It made me think of the lighting at the racetrack at night, once a favorite way to spend an evening--till they shut it down and we only had harness racing. I'm a runners fan.
What a stunning, beautiful work, Susan!!! I would never have imagined that the greys could be so alive, so vibrant and exciting!

I do love the grays in this painting, Kathryn - there really is only a hint of color. I will try this pallet again some time!
DeleteAmazing palette ... so much fro so little, how clever. Another stunner.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks, John - I have been watching the progress on your 4 poster and work shed. You are quite a talented man!

ReplyDeleteI definitely like the way you paint animals, especially horses. This is wonderful painting that transfers all the emotions of horse and rider.
