Life Portrait
Warren Ronsheimer / oil on canvas / 14x11
Another Wednesday morning life session - this portrait has it all - big glasses, a well trimmed beard, a colorful jacket, good light and shadow! I was a happy camper!
Thanks, Sandra - he was a great model holding perfectly still and resuming the exact same pose after each break. Certainly not an easy thing to do but much appreciated by me!
When I clicked on the larger version of this portrait, I could see all your happy brush strokes. You really did have a great time painting this one. What a fabulous portrait, Susan!!! Kathryn
Gros bisous ♡
I am glad that you find life in my life portraits. Once I became comfortable with my ability to get a likeness of the model pretty quickly, I was able to move on to more thoughtful renditions.
Thanks, Irina - I often marvel at the immense number of decisions made regarding color, value, shape of brush marks - all within 3 hours to complete a portrait from life.
Great portrait, Susan!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks, Martine. I feel it is not quite as finished as I would like - but I am not gong back to this one.
DeleteAnd you should be - It's wonderful! :0)

DeletePure perfection ! I love how you play with the colors so freely applying your vivacious dots here and there. Wonderful !
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jane - sometimes I wish I had more restraint with my skin colors! I am constantly trying to keep them somewhat subdued!
DeleteBeautiful light, skin tones and expression-looks like you achieved them in this portrait!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Celia - once in a while everything seems to come together well making the challenge of painting a good portrait just a wee bit easier!
DeleteI like the strokes so much. Specially the white in beard volume and color and shadows.
