Accepted!

Ballerina #3 / 16x20 /

Ballerina #10 / 20x16
After a hiatus of about 2 years of not entering any shows, I decided to throw my hat into the competition ring once more. I am not exactly sure why or what it was that prompted me at this point in time, but I am happy to report that two of my favorite ballerinas were accepted and will be traveling to San Diego, CA this May for the 44th National Exhibit of Women Artists of the West! Oh, happy day!

  3. Good for you! That second one in one of my favorites too. ( I also like the ballerina who fell on her bum). These should both be accepted; they are outstanding. I'd love to own one, but have been afraid to ask you the price.

I've decided to enter a juried competition too for some odd reason. At first I thought landscapes; then I thought no. for my first rejection slip I prefer to enter the paintings that I consider unique: my pastries. Everyone in blog world had little to say about them-- they are an odd subject--but that's exactly why I like them. They have humor. The humor in your ballerinas is what made me think pastries was the way to go. You have been an inspiration.

    1. I am so happy you have decided to enter the world of competition, Linda - and I completely agree with your decision to enter the pastry paintings - I remember them well and love them! They are are a wonderful subject and you painted them so large and luscious! Wayne Thiebaud has done pastries but they are not as yummy as yours are! I wish you great success and applaud your courage! I am also thrilled that you find me an inspiration - thank you.

    1. Thank you, Floriana. I never write about my intentions when I chose a subject to depict as I want the viewer to have a full experience just by seeing my work and applying their own thoughts and interpretations.
