Sunflowers - A Bit Past Their Prime
Sunflowers - such a timeless subject. I saw a bunch that had faded and drooped and was immediately compelled to paint them in all their faded glory. Here is my attempt 18x24 oil on linen.
This one snuck in beneath my radar ... nearly missed it!
The subject matter is so unusual, which makes it so interesting. Their posture seems to carry a mysterious message - just outside our reach - as if from a place between life and death.
The detail is incredibly good, Susan. You have the knack of turning the ordinary into the extraordinary. Just love your work, I really do.
Hi, John - your comments are greatly appreciated. I agree - there is so much that is obscure and perplexing about this moment between the vibrancy of life and the decline toward death. I must look into the biology of it! It thrills me to pieces that you like my work - thanks. John.
Beautiful,I love the shapes!
