Boston International Fine Art Show and Portrait of Dutch

Dutch / oil on gessoed cardboard / 12x9
Finally a portrait I am pleased with after several weeks of struggling for a likeness and a painterly result.

I got a big surprise in my email this week when I learned that the Roux & Cyr Gallery has taken a booth at the Boston International Fine Art Show November 13 - 16th at The Boston Center for the Arts. Susan Roux and Paul Cyr have included some of my ballerina paintings in their display along with the work of the other exceptional artists in the gallery. I am thrilled to have this opportunity and to be included in this group of extraordinary artists. And congratulations to Martine Alison whose lyrical figurative work is also included in this show and whose work many of you may recognize. Here is a link to her site: Ma dollhouse joue un grand air du peinture.

Thank you Susan and thank you Paul! If anyone who follows my blog has the chance to attend, I would love to hear your thoughts.

Cela me touche beaucoup.

On reconnait parfaitement ton illustre travail. Bravo !

    Gros bisous ☂

    1. Oh, Martine! had to laugh at the fact that you rarely paint males and that you state: "Oh la la !!... I never considered the fact that women might be easier to paint than men - I am usually confronted with the personality of the person - the little bit that I can glean by meeting them right before they model and by the nature of their demeanor as they pose. I don't think I have a preference - but I do admit to liking people that present a challenge to me. I like trying to catch in paint the nuances of individuality! Thank you for your wonderful comment. It is an honor to share gallery space with you in the Roux and Cyr Gallery and at the Art Fair. Perhaps one day we will meet, my friend, and that will be a great pleasure!

  6. Congratulations to you and Martine Alison. Both of you are extraordinary painters. Inspirational. Break a leg! Also glad you broke the spell. This painterly portrait, like all your work, is so refreshing to these Venetian eyes.

    1. Many thanks, Linda - I am excited to have one of my ballerinas (or maybe two - I am not sure) at the Boston Art Fair. The Roux and Cyr Gallery has been so wonderful to me!
I greatly admire your patience with the Venetian method. I would be tearing my hair out as I seem to need , not instant, but pretty quick gratification these days.
