  1. I don't know what to say. I find the top image quite disturbing, extremely well done, but very disturbing.

    1. Oh, that is good to know. Thank you for telling me your feelings, Kathryn. I do appreciate honest feedback. I will absolutely take that into consideration.

  2. I don't find the image at all disturbing. The moment I laid eyes on it, I began smiling. There is so much playful energy in the gesture... especially since the model is a horse! I do think I prefer the more curved pose in the sketch but they are both quite lovely.

    1. I am so interested in how images are interpreted differently by each viewer and appreciate yours as well, Diana. I hope to get around to painting a horse as shown in that sketch. The sketches help me work out the anatomical contortions of these rather extreme poses!

  3. i agree with Diana. Both are wonderful. Are they from imagination or do you have references?

    1. I generally have several photo references that I use for each pose and am using the sketches to combine them into a credible and anatomically acceptable horse. And imagination and artistic license is definitely present in each one as well. It's a challenge and I am learning a bit more with each one I attempt. I do not usually do sketches before painting - I am accustomed to jumping in directly with paint on the canvas, but I am experimenting with these.
