Ballerina #26 Makes Her Debut

Ballerina # 26 seems to have a lot of confidence for her first time in the spotlight! Oil on linen 16x20. Although my ballerinas have their own unique style and sense of elegance, please be sure to visit the inviting and entertaining blog of Martine Alison "Ma dollhouse joue un grand air de peinture" - her delicate beauties are always engaged in magical and delightful activities and a visit to her blog will no doubt make you smile!

  1. I love the way you paint, so free and easy and with lots of beautyfully colored dots here and there. But the humor is always present , as here...just wonderful !

  5. Almost disdainful confidence. I imagine her looking stage right at the other dancers [the ones of a few months back, falling on the stage]
    Beautiful colors and strength, Susan!!!

  8. Might this be a reflection of your own self confidence building? She does have that quality. As for Martine-Alison, she's my dear sweet french friend. You might be surprised to know I'm responsible for her beginning to blog. We've been friends for many years. lol Small world.

    Keep painting. It's all lovely!

  10. She seems to be challenging the world with 'that look'. ..."I'll dance it MY way!" ... which sort of reflects your painting, Susan: strong and very much your way. Thank goodness! :0)

    1. An artist friend once encouraged me by telling me that the world does not need another Van Gogh - it needs a new Susan Smolensky! That comment encouraged me as yours does - paint it my way as if I own it! Thanks, John!
