Quick Portrait Study

What can I say? More experimentation - this time with only 4 colors. I used Venetian Red, Ivory Black, Ultramarine Blue and Titanium White. It certainly has a Halloweenish feeling - I guess that is appropriate as our nights are very cool and Autumn is in the air!

    Gros bisous

    1. I am glad you like her, Judy - portraits are so fascinating to paint. It seems the perfect avenue for the artist to project some of herself into the work.

    1. Hi, Maike, I think part of the reason I do these types of portraits now and again is to stay loose and try to boldly apply the paint without concern for the outcome. Its fun and liberating.

    Bravo!
    This piece is exceptional.
The hand coming out from the bottom right directs the viewer back to the face over and over again.
    Very creative and well done.
    Nice job!
    Take care.

  6. You've captured such an interesting expression in her eyes. She matches quite nicely with your profile picture, though you look a lot friendlier! One can learn so much from experimenting. Keep up the great work!

    1. Hi, Susan - I enjoy these phases of experimentation. They really are periods of freedom and lack of fearfulness. I like to try unusual color combinations, large brushes, adventurous brushwork, distinct values - and on and on. Also, the subject matter tends to be a bit broader than my more serious work! :)
