The Primacy of Doubt

Oil on linen 20x24 - the subject of the steeplechase continues to fascinate me as a means of exploring my artistic goals. Each brush stroke is another step along the way - but I have such a long way to go.

 And 2 close up views.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog. I look forward to and am always interested in hearing your thoughts about my work.

    1. Thanks, Heather - I like the way the distant horse and jockey are framed by the main horse and the landscape.

    1. I am continually fascinated by equine anatomy, Maike - and its a challenge for me to paint the horses while they are making good use of that wonderful skeletal structure! I wanted the color in this piece to set the mood. Thank you for your comment.

    1. Thank you, Kathryn - perhaps it was Ace who inspired this one! My artistic goals are three fold - technical excellence, evoking in the viewer a sense of wonder and enchantment that transcends the subject and goes beyond ordinary perception, and immediate goals that relate specifically to each individual painting. It took me years to understand what my aspirations were and now I could write a book these goals and how difficult and elusive it is to even begin to attain them. I believe in continually challenging myself and in constant growth as an artist. It is my passion. And thank you for asking - I appreciate that.
