Final Day of Life Drawing

Today was the last day of the current session of life drawing at the NV Museum of Art. The top two sketches are 40 minute attempts and the bottom was 20 minutes. I am looking forward to putting the pencils away and taking out my paint and brushes this weekend.

  2. The drawings really work well, the foreshortening is really well done.

When I grow up, I shall try to draw and paint half as well as you do, Susan

    1. You are so funny, John! When I grow up I hope to h ave your confidence and attention to detail! The foreshortening is always a challenge and I tend to seek out those views - I love a good challenge!

  3. Your skills are certainly not lost, so you don't need to fear that they are. You're very talented and perhaps need to remind yourself of that every now and again. Enjoy slapping some paint around this weekend. Perhaps just plan to enjoy the process rather than have expectations of a spectacular finish. Lately the act of moving paint around on canvas, pushing one color into the next and layering new one's on top have been so exhilarating that I have trouble stopping this playful act to get serious about my subject. I feel perhaps a combined version of the two will emerge. Playing with paint is too much fun!

    Go explore the fun again.

    1. Wow, Susan, thanks for such a thoughtful reply. I agree so much about pushing the paint around. Sometimes I am surprised and delighted by what happens. Somewhere I heard the term "happy accidents" - it may have been in reference to watercolor but applies nonetheless! I do intend to have a ton of uninterrupted painting fun this weekend!

  4. Susan, you did a great job with the sketches. The one of the model lying down is an especially difficult perspective to portray realistically. Enjoy playing with your brushes and paints this weekend!

    1. LOL! You caught me, Rick! My dilemma was that I did not want to put the Nude Warning on my blog spot and Photo Shop came to the rescue! I was wondering if anyone would notice!
