Ballerina #16

Oil on linen - 18x14 - and a close up of the faces...
It looks like auditions are underway to replace the ballerina with the pulled hamstring! I guess the show must go on!
You can probably tell that I am having a wonderful time with these ballerina paintings. The fun part is, I just paint the next ballerina and the story line develops from there - who knows where all this is coming from or where it will go? Some of my inspiration comes from the comments I receive here on my blog - they are always so encouraging and I find myself drawing a lot of strength from them. Thank you so much to everyone who takes the time to look and to leave me a few words about your thoughts and reactions!

    Gros bisous

  11. I guess it takes two to fill the spot of one...

There's so much comedy in this series. Whatever it is fueling these, I hope it doesn't stop!

    1. I wish I knew - or maybe its better left unknown! The last two days have been days of frustration and wipe-offs but I am hoping there is yet another ballerina in the wings.

  12. Susan, this painting is so ' alive', like you just froze the moment when the ballerina turns to answer somebody. Superb!

  13. Oh my goodness, Susan! I just followed Judy's signpost and here I am ... breathless at what I find and lost for words at such magical 'scenes'.

I shall just stand quietly over at the back of the blog... and watch, full of admiration

    1. Hi, John - I am so glad you found me (and a big thank you to Judy for linking to me on her blog)! Thank you for your kind words of support. I have had a meander around your blog and was fascinated by your stories - especially how your art career seems to take off every time you pick up a pen! I wish I could say the same! Your drawings are so precise - I am in awe!

  14. Well, you are just amzing aren't you? If I painted like this my head would be MASSIVE! I used to be a Ballerina, so these are of particular interest to me and I love the fact that the models are far from typical! I also paint using oils, but in a tighter, vintage-like fashion. I love how your lively brush-strokes dance across the canvas. Beautiful! :0)

Oh and maybe there will be a male dancer too---there is a thought! Hope that inspired you. Always admire and appreciate your blog and artwork- a favorite of mine!
