Young Girl With Magpie

I am seeing lots of Magpies with lots of personality on our mountainside lately and was inspired to put one into a painting. This piece is 20 x 10 oil on cnavas. And here is a close up:

I am officially retired from my full time, high stress day job now and am way too happy to express in words! I think this little painting may show some of my joy. I am most happy with the color and that I had such a good time painting it. I did not have much of a preconcieved idea and just watched where the painting took me.

  1. Je suis très heureuse de vous retrouver et d'admirer une nouvelle peinture... Une peinture qui vient de votre coeur... juste comme vous le dites pour peindre... une envie, une émotion, avoir du plaisir avec la couleur...
Votre travail me plaît beaucoup. Vous traduisez si bien le mouvement...
    gros bisous

  2. Hi Marinealison and Gina,

    thanks for stopping by..

  3. Beautiful painting. I love the whimsical feeling it has.

  4. WHOA! I REALLY love the limited brushstrokes and the seeming suspension of child AND bird - a whole lotta symbolism in this one - like freedom from confinement perhaps???! :-)

  5. Congratulations Susan on your retirement! I love your beautiful loose brushstrokes . Yes, I can also see the joy in this painting! Thanks for visiting my blog too!

  6. Congratulations!! How wonderful. I can see by this painting you're jumping for joy. Love this. Expressive and delightful.

  7. Hi Debbie - thank you for looking a little deeper - much appreciated! Thanks so much Ruth, Tina and Stephanie. I do feel a kind of elation at being free from the constraints of a 9 to 5 job.

Your comments are welcome and brighten my day!
